Today, Cutcraft artist Reiyo The Giant announces her debut album, Trick Of The Night arriving November 6th via Safari Riot, alongside its haunting title track. Weaving soul, ambient and electronic elements into a genre-defying sound that feels at once tender and untamed, Reiyo treats her voice as an instrument in its own right. Produced by Anwar Sawyer, “Trick of the Night” explores the uneasy space between instinct and uncertainty, pairing sparse piano and electronic textures with an intimate, conversational vocal that grows increasingly urgent as the song unfolds.
“I couldn’t decide what was intuition and what was fear,” Reiyo shares. “The lines became so blurred that eventually I was believing everything.”
That sense of disorientation extends across the forthcoming album, where Reiyo explores how grief, fear and rumination can distort even the most familiar parts of our lives. She imagines the album as moving through a familiar house where something always seems slightly amiss, each song occupying a different room and blurring the line between what’s there and what the mind expects to find.
“Trick of the Night” joins previously released singles “Can’t Call Me,” “Get It Together,” “The Show Must Go On,” “How To Get Nowhere Fast,” and “Nu World,” which have gradually offered glimpses into the album’s nonlinear emotional journey.
